The sensuality and beauty of erotic art will be experienced in February through different artist interpretations and different mediums. Artists have explored erotic themes in their artwork for centuries, at times raising controversy and even putting art on trial. The inspiration the human form has provided to artists is an essential factor in the history of art and its evolution. Shapes, forms, colors, and even abstract compositions will be used to celebrate sensuality and encourage a new dialogue on this topic.
Artists in this exhibit include Kevork Mourad, Reuben Nakian, John Hames, assemblage artist Julian Penrose, Kyle Ringquist, Michael Berkowitz, Michael Bryce, George Apotsos, Alan Metnick, Erin Starr and neon artist G.V.K. Lending her artistic vision to curating this unprecedented exhibition is Gallery Z Artist in Residence Taylor Manter. The goal here is to present “a tasteful selection of art that celebrates the sensual body”, says Manter. Join us to see how the rendering of the erotic subject in art can be thought provoking and uniquely expressive when portrayed by the hands of these skilled artists
This year Gallery Z will be celebrating Valentines Day with a Black and Red Event on Saturday February 14th from 6-8pm. Be comfortable and sexy in your black and red attire and bring your special valentine. We will be giving away sensual door prizes courtesy of our Federal Hill neighbors Old World Cigar & Magazine Emporium, Diva’s Palace, Salon Bianco and Rosebud’s Salon. We will also hold an opening reception on February 19th from 5-9pm. At the opening we will have a unique demonstration of body painting done by Ricky Vespia.
