Evans Manuel Molina Fernandez was born in Havana, Cuba in 1976. In November of 2004 he immigrated to the United States of America. Since his arrival in Rhode Island he has resided on Block Island and in Providence, and has exhibited his paintings in various group and individual shows. He has also had the opportunity to pursue his other passions - performance, music and dance. In the past year in Providence, Evans has acted, taught dance, and played his conga drums live in various venues as well as recorded for television. Evans' inspirations include humanity, ancestral currents, ritual, immigration, faith, legend, home, and family. His paintings are reflections converted into abstract forms. Life outside of Cuba has inspired Evans to return with love and nostalgia to his culture and roots. Due to the United States' economic embargo against Cuba, Evans is prohibited from returning to his homeland. This painful separation inspires Evans' art. He strives to create cultural interchange with the objective of destroying prejudices and political blockades. His paintings call attention to history, life, the present, and the future, opening new spaces of light by which cultures and art transfer in search of understanding. List of Pieces: 1. Jibaro 2.
