Anet Abnous
 


Anet Abnous was born to parents of Armenian descent in Tehran, Iran. Abnous learned to draw from her parents, who were designers and dressmakers. She graduated from the University of Alzahra with a degree in Art/Fashion Design, and held numerous exhibitions before emigrating to the United States in 1996. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BFA in Visual Art from Queens College in 2006.

Abnous is a member of the Art Alliance of Monmouth, Armenian National Women Artists, Freehold Art Society, the Guild of Creative Art, the Art and Photography Community, the Contemporary Art Network, Cambridge Who’s Who, Armenian International Women's Association (AIWA), and City without Walls. In addition to her exhibitions in Iran, she has had her work featured in numerous exhibitions in New York, New Jersey, California, Maryland, and Rhode Island, as well as Iran and Korea. Some of her paintings are in the permanent collections of MOCIA, many Galleries in Iran, the Armenian Diocese in New York, and many private collectors worldwide.

She has been published in Asbury Park Press (a New Jersey daily newspaper), YERKIR (an Armenian weekly newspaper), Hye-Tert Istanbul, QC Magazine, NY ART Magazine, RI Art Council, and the Armenian Reporter. Additionally, she has been interviewed with Anush Ter Talian on WBAI 99.5 FM radio about her two pieces dealing with violence against women.

Recently, she curated the 1st Armenian Women’s Art exhibition in New York City.
